Hibbing, Minnesota is unusual because many homes were
moved, especially during the 1920’s. When I went there to
do research I stayed in one of the houses that had been
moved on wheels. The homes were relocated two miles
south of the old site, which still has sidewalks and old street
lights remaining. Some of this history is included in the
fictional novel, but none of the history is fiction.
Several large hotels were moved along with many houses as
shown in the photos. Hibbing High School, an attractive
building complete with beautiful murals, I toured when I
visited Hibbing to learn more about this fascinating history.
The school was built new in the 1920’s so to encourage
people to move, house and all, to Hibbing and it is a high
school to this day.
